Responsibilities of a Kohai
  1. To assist the ranking teacher when a new technique is demonstrated by:
    1. Observing student performance and assisting with corrections.
    2. Calling the teacher's attention to anyone who may need to be re-taught.
    3. Providing demonstration of the technique when asked by the student.
  2. To hold class in the absence of a higher-ranking teacher.
  3. To assist other students with techniques which they are performing incorrectly and when necessary alerting the ranking teacher of any major problems.
  4. To maintain the cleanliness of the dojo by:
    1. Making sure the dojo is swept daily.
    2. Making sure that the mats are properly cleaned regularly according to the Sensei's requirements.
  5. To make sure that students line up in proper order at the beginning and end of class.
  6. Assuming any other duties agreed to with the Sensei.

Responsibilities of a Sempai

  1. 1. To assist the ranking teacher when a new technique is demonstrated by:
    1. Observing student performance and assisting with corrections.
    2. Calling the teacher's attention to anyone who may need to be re-taught.
    3. Providing demonstration of the technique when asked by the student.
    4. Teaching new techniques as directed by the sensei.
  2. To hold class in the absence of a higher-ranking teacher.
  3. To assist other students1 with techniques which they are performing incorrectly and when necessary alerting the ranking teacher of any major problems.
  4. Maintaining all weapons an equipment used for training by:
    1. Cleaning all equipment regularly according to the sensei's requirements.
    2. Reporting any damaged or unsafe equipment to the sensei, and labeling equipment as to not be used by anyone.
    3. Routinely sanding and refinishing all wooden weapons.
    4. Making sure that all safety equipment is worn as required by the sensei.
    5. Maintaining a written inventory of all equipment in the dojo.
  5. Assuming any other duties agreed to with the sensei.

Responsibilities of a Sensei

  1. To teach the approved techniques of the Shindoryu Aikijutsu Association.
  2. To hold rank examinations and promote those students as seen fit to two ranks below the sensei's rank.
  3. Maintaining dojo records including:
    1. Cleaning Records
    2. Equipment Records
    3. Receipt Records
    4. Dojo Correspondence
    5. Demonstration Reports
    6. Member Information
    7. Incident Reports
    8. Equipment Inventory
    9. Any other records as specified by the shihan
  4. Assuming any other duties agreed to with the sensei.

Responsibilities of a Shihan

  1. To establish and charter new dojo.
  2. To administer all dojo under the shihan's supervision.
  3. To appoint new sensei to serve in each dojo.
  4. To provide support and training to each sensei.
  5. To ensure that all dojo give instruction that meets SAA requirements.
  6. To provide enrichment activities for all dojo under jurisdiction, encouraging esprit de corps.
  7. To administer all rank examinations for which a sensei does not rank to administer.
  8. To administer the examinations of all nominated kohai, sempai/sensei candidates.
